This course is designed
for surgeons who have just followed the basic course on
microsurgery, and want to learn more about advanced
microsurgical techniques to be used in bio-medical research.
The course
starts with refreshing some basic knowledge such as:
dissection of blood vessels, end-to-end anastomoses and
end-to-side anastomoses. Organ transplantation techniques
will be discussed. Followed by hands-on
training under the microscope of arterial and venous graft
interposition, by-pass techniques, the heterotopic heart
transplantation (acc. to Sun Lee or Heron), kidney
transplantation, etc.
Theory-to-practice ratio of this course is about
20/80.
The following models will be discussed and surgically prepared:
 |
You will learn further to adapt your eye-to-hand coordination
to working under the operation microscope |
 |
You will learn the theoretical and practical basis of
anaesthesiology including peri-operative pain killing |
 |
You will learn how to handle fragile tissue |
 |
You will learn how to dissect blood vessels for
transplantation purposes |
 |
You will learn to make an end-to-end anastomosis in
small diameter arteries and veins |
 |
You will learn to make an end-to-side anastomosis in
small diameter arteries and veins |
 |
You will learn the basic principles of transplantations |
 |
You will further refine your surgical technique |
